Whales, whales and more whales!

The whales are in and our waters have some of the best whale watching opportunities around. Lots of humpback moms with babies. It is common to also see dolphins, turtles and sometimes other types of whales as well.
Do not miss out on the opportunity to a close encounter with these gentle giants. We see them plentiful here in the Gulf of Nicoya in August, September and some whales hang out for a while in October and November as well.

Enjoy Isla Tortuga in the Low Season

Escape the ordinary and dive into an extraordinary adventure with us here at Bahía Rica Adventures on our day tour to Isla Tortuga. While many flock to this tropical paradise during the high season, the low season offers an equally enchanting, yet more tranquil, experience.

Isla Tortuga, renowned for its pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters, becomes a serene haven during the low season. The island’s natural beauty is undiminished, with lush greenery, vibrant marine life, and stunning landscapes waiting to be explored. The slightly quieter ambiance allows you to immerse yourself fully in the island’s magic without the bustle of larger crowds.

Our day tour starts with a scenic boat ride from Bahía Rica Adventures. As you glide across the calm waters, keep an eye out for rays, turtles and other marine life that often make appearances. The journey itself is a breathtaking introduction to the adventure that lies ahead.

Upon arrival at Isla Tortuga, snorkeling enthusiasts can dive into the warm, inviting waters to discover a colorful underwater paradise teeming with exotic fish and coral reefs. For those who prefer to stay above water, stand-up paddleboarding offers a unique perspective of the island’s coastline, combining adventure with tranquility.

Relaxation is also on the agenda. Lounge on the soft, white sands under the shade of swaying palm trees, or take a leisurely swim in the gentle waves.

A day tour with Bahía Rica Adventures during the low season is more than just a trip; it’s a relaxing escape that reconnects you with nature. With fewer tourists around, you can truly savor the serene beauty of Isla Tortuga. Join us for an unforgettable adventure and discover why the low season is the perfect time to experience this tropical gem.

This also affects the bus schedule here on the peninsula as the bus is coordinated with the ferry.

You can buy the ferry tickets online: www.quickpaycr.com

They only sell about one third of the tickets online, so if you cannot buy online you can just go to the ferry port and pay in the ticket office. In this case it is good to be there an hour before on regular day. I peak season or weekend days, you might want to be there earlier still.

Aquatic Rescue and Safety Course

Aquatic Rescue and Safety Course SUP
Water activities like Stand Up Paddle boarding are great fun.

The year round warm temperature and calm gulf water makes it even more enjoyable here.

Still accidents can happen in any activity – SUP included – so safety is important.

Thank you to our excellent course instructor Gustavo Corrales from the
International Surfing Association and ILS (International Life Saving Federation).
And to OPacifico Hotel and SUPHERR for organizing!
