Our Premium Private Isla Tortuga Tour is a full day all-Inclusive activity. It is for those of you who want to pamper yourselves and do something special as a small private group. Isla Tortugas white sandy beach is the perfect playground for all. You will enjoy a tropical beach lunch and can then choose to chill in a hammock or use the free beach chairs to let the food settle. You can rent jetskis, play volleyball or just swim around in the warm water just off the beach.
To mix it up, we also stop in front of an uninhabited island to get some close encounters with the super cool spider monkeys.
This tour, which is all day from 8am to 3:30 pm, offers a lot in one package.
Premium Private Isla Tortuga Tour with spider monkeys and snorkeling
First of all, the boat journey in itself is truly enjoyable. We take a max of 8 persons on each of our boats, so you get personalized attention from the crew. The tour is also 100% private which means there will only be you and your group at our installations on the beach.
On the Premium Private Isla Tortuga Tour, you have the possibility of spotting rays or dolphins, and sometimes turtles. From the end of July to mid-October, humpback whales can also frequently be seen from the boat. As it is a private tour it is also possible to search around the island for them if desired.
Snorkeling is best of the small rocky islands in front of the beach. A myriad of fish species in all shapes and colors can be seen on a regular basis. It is relatively shallow so even with limited visibility it is possible to see a lot.
The beach at Tortuga Island (actually named Tolinga Island) has some of the whitest sand in the area. The water is usually clear in the dry season and varies a little more in the rainy season. The waves are mostly small and make for some fun times in the water for the whole family.
On the island itself there is a possibility of doing other activities as well. It is possible to rent paddleboards or go for a ride on a “banana” tube, rent a wave runner or a kayak. If you get tired of sand and water, there are hiking trails up the mountain in the back with great viewpoints. There is also a gift shop with internet.
Monkey island | Curious spider monkeys
The coolest monkeys in Costa Rica are the spider monkeys. They are quite acrobatic, using their long arms, legs and tails, to move through the trees. Spider monkeys are extremely fast while swinging through the trees. When on the ground, they often walk just on their legs, like a small person.
There is a family of Spider monkeys living on the Island of Nancital, which is on the way to Isla Tortuga. Here there are no natural predators on the island and the monkeys are by nature very curious. Arriving at the island, a call will often get their attention and they will rush down to greet us.
Fishing
We will bring several fishing rods with us on this Premium Private Isla Tortuga Tour. Often, we pass by schools of tunas and jacks and it is always fun to take a few casts and see if they want to bite. It is also possible to do some trolling before snorkeling or skip the snorkeling and do some more fishing. It is up to you to decide.
Snorkeling | Wide variety of marine life
The snorkeling area is very popular, but since we leave early it is likely we will have the area more or less to ourselves. If you are avid snorkelers, we can take you to some different locations if the conditions are good.
Before entering the water, our friendly and professional guides will be on hand to assist and instruct you. Once you are in the water you will quickly discover why the country is called Costa Rica (the rich coast).
We supply good quality snorkeling gear, floaties and safety equipment.
Isla Tortuga | Hiking and animals
If you are restless and want to explore more of the island, you can do so by accessing some of the hiking trails behind the beach. You have to pay for a map to access them, but it’s worth it as some of the viewpoints you get to have a stunning view.
Common to Isla Tortuga is the national mammal of Costa Rica, the white tailed deer. There are also several families of Collared Peccary, a type of wild pig. Green iguanas and the more common black ctenosaurs, along with a variation of other lizards can also be observed. Walking around a bit on the island almost guarantees you spotting parrots and other birds.
What to expect on the Premium Private Isla Tortuga Tour
This exceptional day starts with pick up at the Paquera ferry landing. Other pickup points are available for an additional price, just ask us. You will board one of our comfortable power boats that are fully equipped with a cooler with refreshments, music, safety equipment, and plenty of space as we maximum take 8 people on board.
The 25-minute boat ride to the island gives opportunity to enjoy the views of the coastline and the layout of the islands. About halfway to Isla Tortuga we will do a little detour past Isla Nancital, the monkey island. Here we also have the option to do fishing on the way if desired.
The entertaining and photogenic spider monkeys usually come all the way down to the water for some great photo ops from the boat.
During the boat ride, it is not uncommon to see dolphins, jumping rays, turtles at times with a little luck, humpback whales.
Upon arrival to Tortuga Island we will anchor our boat close to the snorkeling spot. The reef consists of mainly volcanic rock and this is where you will see the vast majority of the tropical reef fish. You can snorkel for as long as you want. It is your special day, so you decide how much time you want to spend in the water, on the beach, fishing or just cruising around.
After an amazing snorkeling experience our captain will take you to the wonderful white sand beach of Isla Tortuga where drinks and fruits will be waiting for you at our private lunch spot. Included here is also a plate of vegetarIan ceviche as an appetizer. We serve fresh fruit and authentic Costa Rican BBQ lunch with either fish, chicken, lobster (when available), shrimp, seafood plate or a vegetarian meal. We also serve complimentary white wine with the meal.
After lunch, enjoy some coffee, brownies, and a shot of brown liquor. The rest of the afternoon will be yours to enjoy. You can go for a hike, a swim, rent a kayak, a banana boat, take a little “siesta” in the hammocks and beach chairs we provide, or just chill at the beach. And then as the day comes to an end, we will get back on the boat our ride back. Here as well we have the option do some fishing on the way back if anyone feel up to it.
Our guides go above and beyond in order to provide you with a memorable experience like swimming around with you at the snorkeling spot if you are a novice swimmer. Their focus is to ensure you have a great experience on and off the boat.
The Premium Private Isla Tortuga Tour is the perfect getaway in these Covid times.
